What is covered?
Section A: Buildings
This covers the residential buildings including landlord’s fixtures and fittings, gate, walls, fences against fire and lighning, earthquake, floods, explosion such as gas cylinder explosions, riot and strike, miscellaneous causes such as bursting of water pipes and tanks and impact by vehicles and animals.
The policy can be extended to cover additional expense in the loss of rent in the event of the buildings being rendered uninhabitable by any of the perils covered.
Section B – Contents
This covers loss or damage to home owners contents like furniture, household goods, electrical equipment and other personal items if they are stolen, destroyed by fire or other insured event.
Section C – All Risks
This covers portable items that are taken out of the house like jewelry, tablets, laptop computers, mobile phones, cameras etc.
Section D – Work Injury Benefit Act Insurance
WIBA refers to the liability to provide compensation to employees for work related injuries or death in the course of their employment. This covers domestic servants such as househelps,,watchmen,gardeners,drivers in respect of injury or death to domestic servants while in their duties. The limits of compensation are as set out in the Work Injury Benefits Act, 2007.
Section E & F – Occupiers and Personal Liability
This policy covers legal liability in respect to third party injury or damage to property parties arising from the policyholder’s negligence as owner or occupier of the property insured under the policy.
